SALEM, W.Va. – Point Park dropped a four-set road match to Salem University on Thursday evening in north central West Virginia.
Nicole Reasbeck led the Pioneers with 14 kills and 14 digs in the match.
The teams split the first two sets with Salem taking set one 25-19 and Point Park winning set two by a 25-14 advantage. The home-standing Tigers took the final two sets by scores of 25-16 and 25-19.
Despite the result, Point Park outhit Salem, .144 to .115 in the match, forcing Salem into 28 errors. The Tigers held the advantage at the service line with 10 aces in the win (compared to just two for PPU). Both teams tallied five total blocks.
In addition to Reasbeck's big day,
Sara Faith also chipped in eight kills. Marianna Oyola Rivera finished the match with four kills, 17 assists and 10 digs from her setter position.
Mia Arndt led the Pioneers with 20 digs in the back row.
Alexandra Vigneron finished the evening with 14 kills and three blocks to lead Salem, while Brianna Beyerle recorded a double-double with 12 kills and 17 digs.
Point Park will now prepare for its home opener on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at the Student Center. First serve is set for 7 p.m. against Geneva College.
