PITTSBURGH -- Point Park men's soccer knocked off previously-unbeaten No. 23 Frostburg State on Sunday afternoon 2-1 at Rooney Field. Hector Moreno and Alejandro Vega tallied in the first half to give the Pioneers the edge.

STRIKE FIRST    

Point Park (3-3-2, 2-2-0 MEC) broke the game open in the 13th minute when Hector Moreno took a pass from Lander Barrio Gonzalez and chipped Frostburg State's (4-1-2, 2-1-1 MEC) goalkeeper Josiah Emerson. 

Moreno's goal was his fourth on the season, good for the team lead. 

Alejandro Vega doubled the lead in the 29th minute when he tapped in a great cross from Edouard Gagnon right in front of the goal. Vega leads all Point Park outfield players in minutes played with 694 and scored his first goal of the season on the play.

FANTASTIC FOUSAY

After Frostburg State tallied in the 34th minute thanks to a free kick from Christ Fopossi, the Bobcats earned a penalty kick in the 39th minute. Mateo Cuadros stepped up to take the penalty, but was stonewalled by a diving Anthony Fusay.

Fusay finished with four saves on the day, leading the game, and bolstering his save percentage which ranked seventh in the MEC entering the weekend.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

PPU edged FSU in the shots department 13-11, with the Bobcats recorded six shots on goal to the Pioneer's three. 

Eduoard Gagnon tied with Chris Fopossi of Frostburg State with three shots, with Fopossi's two shots on goal leading the contest. Lorenzo Grispello, Hector Moreno and Hugo Ferreira all tallied two shots on goal.

Grispello, Moreno and Vega all finished the day with shots on goal.

Point Park hits the road on Wednesday for an MEC matchup at Concord. Opening kick is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Callaghan Stadium.
