FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Joshua Topper was named the Mountain East Conference Men's Golfer of the Week on Wednesday, the league office announced.

Topper, a sophomore from Belford, Pa., finished eighth at the West Chester Battlefield Classic on Monday, shooting a career-best two over par. He tallied three birdies in the meet, two of which came on the back nine of the round.

Topper finished as the best-performing MEC golfer at the meet. He is the first Pioneer to win Golfer of the Week honors this season.

Topper will return to action on Oct. 4 through the 6 when Point Park competes in the MEC Golf Championships in Roanoke, W.Va.
