WHEELING, W.Va. -- Point Park volleyball will open a stretch of five consecutive games away from home on Friday when it visits Wheeling. Opening serve is set for 7 p.m. at the Alma Grace McDonough Center.

LAST TIME OUT

Point Park (2-8, 1-1 MEC) was downed by Frostburg State in five sets on Tuesday. The Pioneers dropped the opening frame before capturing 25-22 and 25-23 wins in sets two and three. Frostburg State rallied in the fourth and fifth sets to take the win.

Sara Faith led the Pioneers with her 12 kills on the evening - her highest mark in a game this season. Ece Cetin posted seven kills and a team-high three total blocks, with Nicole Reasbeck tallying six kills and seven digs.

Mia Arndt led the squad with 12 digs and recorded three service aces, second only to Te'Jah Montgomery's four.

REASBECK REIGNS

Senior Nicole Reasbeck is first among Pioneers this season in kills (83) and points (97). Additionally, her 10.0 blocks rank fourth on the squad. 

Reasbeck's streak of four straight matches with double-digit kills came to an end on Tuesday. She lit up the stat sheet in Point Park's matchup at Salem, posting 14 kills and 14 digs. 

SCOUTING THE CARDINALS

Wheeling (6-5, 1-1 MEC) enters on the back of a loss to Fairmont State on Tuesday in which the Cardinals were swept in three sets. Camryn Matus leads WU in kills on the season with 109, and her 2.73 kills per set are good for eighth in the MEC. Matus is averaging 3.04 points per set, which rank ninth in the league.

Mara McDougal's 4.93 digs per set rank third in the conference. McDougal sits at 197 digs on the season. Wheeling features two players in the top 10 in blocks per set in the MEC, with Aleithia Wilson (0.85) and Katie Wilking (0.83) sitting in fourth and sixth place, respectively.

BUILD THE FENCE

Point Park posted 13 total blocks in its match against Glenville State, by far its most in a single game this season. The Pioneers combined for 20 assisted blocks in the win, with Ece Cetin's five assisted blocks leading the squad. Savannah Kitchen, Calero-Irizarry, Oyola-Rivera and Sara Faith all posted three assisted blocks.

Leilani Fongyen posted two solo blocks, which was good for a team high. Sara Faith also added a solo block. 

Against Frostburg State, Point Park posted six total blocks. Cetin led the team with three assists blocks, and Patricia Calero-Irizarry, Nicole Reasbeck and Savannah Kitchen all posted two. Sara Faith chipped in an assisted block as well. Calero-Irizarry also added a solo block. 

Point Park is second in the MEC in opponent blocks per set, only allowing 1.43 per frame. The Pioneers are averaging 1.51 blocks per set this season.

COMING IN HOT

Marianna Oyola-Rivera leads the team with 14 aces after recording three against Frostburg State. Oyola-Rivera is one of two Pioneers in the MEC's top 10 in aces per set, as she sits in sixth place at 0.41 - one spot ahead of Brooke Bednarski who has posted 0.38 aces per set (13 total).

Oyola-Rivera and Bednarski are also Point Park's two leaders in assists, with 138 and 123 on the season. Mia Arndt leads the team with her 120 digs and ranks third among Pioneers in assists with 23. Arndt, a junior from Robinson Township, Pa., is 10th in the league in digs per set at 3.43.

Brooke Bednarski and Mia Arndt have both earned All-Tournament honors in the 2026 season, with Bednarski earning it for the Lake Erie Storm Volleyball Classic and Arndt's coming in the Wheeling Quad.
