Amy Black

Amy Black was named Assistant Vice President of Athletic Development at Point Park University in the spring of 2024.

Black brings extensive experience in development, communications, and leadership in the non-profit sector, with a focus on Pittsburgh, Buffalo, and Harrisburg. This includes 12 years of advancing fundraising and relationship-building efforts in higher education.

Since joining Point Park University in April 2024, Black has continued her passion for supporting mission-driven organizations. Prior to returning to Pittsburgh, she worked as a freelance writer for several Harrisburg-based magazines and served as President of the Harrisburg Symphony Society Board for the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra.

During her four years in Buffalo, Black held several leadership roles, supporting charitable initiatives with the NHL’s Buffalo Sabres, serving as a trustee for the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy, and on the Board of Directors for SABAH, a nonprofit supporting adaptive sports and recreation programs.

Earlier in her career, Black served as Director of Alumni Relations and Development at the Duquesne University School of Law, where she managed annual and major gifts, produced the alumni magazine, coordinated academic conferences and events, and served as the School’s liaison to its Board of Directors. Before that, she spent seven years at Carnegie Mellon University’s Graduate School of Industrial Administration (now the Tepper School of Business), where she held roles including Director of Special Projects and Director of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving.

She began her professional journey as a teacher at Carlow College after earning a bachelor’s degree in English and Political Science from Allegheny College. She continued her education by obtaining a master’s degree in English from Duquesne University, which she attended on full scholarship with a teaching fellowship.
