Point Park University President Chris W. Brussalis and Vice President of Athletics Scott Swain announced the appointment of R. Hagen Starz, Esq., as the Faculty Athletics Representative for the Department of Athletics in November 2024.

"The Faculty Athletics Representative is a key position for an NCAA school to ensure there is an appropriate balance between athletics and education for the student-athletes," President Brussalis said. "I am very pleased to see Professor Starz in this role, and I know he will be an asset in providing student-athletes with the best-possible experience at Point Park."

Additionally, he is a managing member and founder of Allied Legal Partners, a general practice law firm in Pittsburgh.

"Professor Starz brings great enthusiasm and a fresh perspective to our FAR position," Swain commented. "With our transition to the NCAA, Starz will be well prepared to assist our student-athletes in so many ways. He is a well-respected member of our faculty and will be a tremendous resource for both faculty and staff for years to come."

His experience includes practicing in the areas of sports and entertainment law, family law, civil litigation, criminal law, real estate, business law, and estate planning.

"I am incredibly honored to be selected as the Faculty Athletics Representative for Point Park University," Starz commented. "I look forward to assisting our students, faculty, and university staff with the transition to NCAA Division II, and to continue to assist in the University's efforts to provide our student-athletes with a transformative world-class educational experience."

A native of Pittsburgh and a graduate of North Allegheny High School in nearby Wexford, Starz earned a B.A. in Political Science from Allegheny College in 2000. He continued his education by obtaining a Juris Doctor from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 2003.
