GREENSBURG, Pa. -- Point Park University placed second of 10 teams in the women's 6K race at the Pitt-Greensburg Invitational Saturday. The Pioneers earned their best team placement this year on the strength of having three runners in the top eight finishers.

Sarah Austin, a junior from Sweet Valley, Pa., paced a trio of high finishers for the Pioneers as her time of 26:28 put her in sixth place. Not far behind was sophomore Justine Michael in seventh place at 26:36 followed by junior Lindsay Dill in eighth place at 26:37.
Point Park senior captain Carina Jollie, from Pittsburgh, finished the 6K in 28:14 for 16th place. Freshman Keri Rouse was the Pioneers' fifth runner to cross the finish line in 27th place with a time of 29:26.
Point Park had a team point total of 58, which was just six points behind the team champion Chatham. Third-place Pitt-Johnstown had 79 points.
Point Park continued its recent success at the Pitt-Greensburg event. In the 2008 race, Point Park placed third as a team.
Other competitors for the Pioneers were Leah Bubeck (29:49), Becca Lessner (33:42), Leticia Henry (34:50) and Carleigh Dettorre (37:01).
The Pioneers visit the Carnegie Mellon Invitational next week for their third event in as many weeks.
