NAIA TOP 25
PITTSBURGH -- Point Park University baseball remained nationally ranked with the release of the NAIA Baseball Coaches' Top 25 Poll on Tuesday (March 17) as the Pioneers (10-4) come in at No. 24 in the nation this week.
Point Park did move down four spots from last week but still maintains its streak of seven straight regular-season polls ranked in the Top 25 dating back to last year.
The Pioneers took a couple of losses last week to one of the hottest teams in the NAIA, Davenport (Mich.) (14-2), which moved up five spots to No. 8 in the country this week. That improvement is one of the bigger jumps in the rankings.
Point Park also split a doubleheader with Madonna (Mich.) last week to go 1-3 in four games.
The Pioneers are one of only three northern-based teams in the Top 25 with the others being No. 8 Davenport (Mich.) and No. 21 Mt. Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) (5-1).
Point Park has a chance to build on its resume with its first game in Pennsylvania this season, a matchup with Penn State-Greater Allegheny on Wednesday, March 18. Originally scheduled as the Pioneers' home opener and as a doubleheader, the venue has been changed to Consol Energy Park in Washington, Pa., and it has been reduced to a single game of nine innings.
Point Park versus Penn State-Greater Allegheny is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start. Consol Energy Park is located at 1 Washington Federal Way, Washington, Pa., 15301. Watch Live on the Point Park Sports Network and follow Live Stats.
