PITTSBURGH -- Point Park University men's cross country pulled in scholar-athlete honors for many of its team members on Friday (Nov. 17). The Pioneers led the River States Conference with six RSC Scholar-Athletes and had three of those team members earn national academic honors from the NAIA.
The 2017 NAIA-Daktronics Men's Cross Country Scholar-Athletes were announced on Friday with Point Park getting three student-athletes named to the list. This award is for juniors or seniors who have a grade-point average of 3.50 or higher and have been at their school for more than one year.
Juniors Bradley Calleja (3.89 GPA), Keith Tucker (3.54 GPA) and Bryan Partika (3.51 GPA) earned NAIA-Daktronics Scholar-Athlete honors for the Pioneers this year. Those three also were named to the 2017 River States Conference Men's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete Team, which is for RSC student-athletes who have a GPA or 3.25 or higher.
Point Park's conference-high six RSC Scholar-Athlete Team members also included senior Chris Hunt (3.41 GPA), junior Andre Lowery (3.33 GPA) and sophomore Carlos Polanco (3.32). There were 29 total RSC Scholar-Athlete Team members in the conference.
