APOLLO, Pa. -- Point Park University men's golf is tied for fifth place of 10 teams after the first round of the Carnegie Mellon University Fall Shootout Saturday at The Links at Spring Church. It is the first tournament of the fall for the Pioneers, who shot 305 as a team to begin the year.
Senior Max Kaminsky shot a 73 on the par-70 layout at The Links. That led Point Park and is tied with four other players for 10th place individually, five shots back of leader Jake Darr of Washington & Jefferson. Darr shot 2-under 68 and is the only player under par. CMU's Nikhil Mohan and Patrick Tan are tied for second at 70.
Host CMU is the team leader after 18 holes with an opening 284. The Tartans had all four players under 73 in the first round. Allegheny is in second with a 287 followed by Denison (296) and Washington & Jefferson (297). Point Park is next in a tie with CMU's C team at 305. The final round is Sunday with a 9 a.m. start.
Point Park's Gage Basiletti is tied for 21st with a 76 in the first round. Justin Guzik and Nick Finoli both shot 78 to fill out Point Park's team scorecard, and Rafael Perez shot 79. For the complete individual leaderboard, click the results link above. Below are the team standings.
