Basiletti wins 1st place at Westminster, Pioneers take 7th of 12

NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Gage Basiletti won first place individually at the Westminster Fall Invitational to lead Point Park University men's golf to seventh place of 12 teams Monday at New Castle Country Club.

Basiletti, a native of Dover, Ohio, fired a 73 to win by one shot over Javon Trout of Pitt-Greensburg. He shot 37-36 on his scorecard. That led Point Park to a team score of 325.

Grove City won first place in the team standings with a 315, and the top seven teams were separated by 10 strokes. Pitt-Bradford (317) was second followed by St. Vincent (318), Kent State-Tuscarawas (319), Westminster (320), California (Pa.) (320), PSU-Altoona (323) and Point Park (325).

Rafael Perez shot 79 as the second-highest score for Point Park. There were a total of 15 players out of the 73 in the field who broke 80 on the day. Max Kaminsky carded an 82, and Justin Guzik and Nick Finoli came in at 91 and 96, respectively, for the Pioneers.

Point Park's next tournament is Oct. 9-10 at the River States Conference Fall Preview. The tournament will be held at Lassing Pointe GC in Union, Ky., the same site as the RSC championship in the spring season.
