Point Park men's golf places 1st at Grove City, Basiletti 2nd

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Point Park University men's golf placed first as a team, and Gage Basiletti took second place individually on Saturday at the Grove City College Fall Invitational. The Pioneers shot a team score of 323, and Basiletti, a senior, shot 79 at Grove City Country Club.

The Pioneers earned a three-shot win over host Grove City, which shot 326. Thiel College was the third team in the field, and the Tomcats shot 332. Medalist Scott Hangfilter from Grove City won by one shot over Basiletti with a score of 78.

Basiletti fired a 37 on the back nine but came up a stroke short. It was his second runner-up finish and third Top 10 in three fall tournaments thus far.

Point Park's Justin Guzik placed fourth with a round of 80, which included 37 on the back nine. Alex Smith and Matt D'Amico each shot 82 to tie for sixth and round out the team score for the Pioneers. Nick Finoli and Rafael Perez shot a pair of 84s to tie for 10th of the 21 players there.

Point Park's final tournament of the fall season is Oct. 29-30 at the River States Conference Fall Preview at Belterra Golf Course in Florence, Ind. It is a preview for the RSC Championship to be held at the same course in the April 2019.
