FLORENCE, Ind. -- Point Park University men's golf competed Monday in the first round of the River States Conference Men's Golf Fall Preview at Belterra Golf Course in Florence, Ind. After 18 holes the Pioneers are in ninth place.

Matt D'Amico shot an 81 to lead the Pioneers on day one. Rafael Perez was next with an 84 followed by Nick Finoli at 87 and Alex Smith with a 94. That amounted to a team score of 346, which is A dozen shots behind the top half of the field and sixth place.

Asbury (Ky.) and IU Kokomo have the first-round team lead after both shooting 313. That's five shots clear of the rest of the field, which includes Brescia (Ky.) (318), WVU Tech (322) and IU East (324) in the top five.

The next group of teams are right in front of Point Park with Midway (Ky.) (332), Ohio Christian (334) and Rio Grande (Ohio) (340).

The final round is Tuesday with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. There are 11 teams competing this week at what is a preview to the RSC Championship to be held at the same course in the spring.
