No. 22 Point Park beats Brescia (Ky.), 3-0, to begin RSC series

OWENSBORO, Ky. -- No. 22-ranked Point Park University extended its win streak to 11 in a row with Friday's 3-0, River States Conference baseball victory at Brescia (Ky.) University. The Pioneers (11-1, 4-0 RSC) had Nicholas Beardsley and Addison Domingo combine on the shutout that featured 10 strikeouts.

Beardsley (2-1), a junior right-hander from Torrance, Calif., tossed seven innings while giving up just five hits and one walk. He struck out eight and got seven groundouts and handed a 3-0 lead over Domingo.

Domingo, a senior right-hander from Carlsbad, Calif., picked up his fourth save of the year with two shut-out innings. He tacked on two more strikeouts to make it 10 in the game and gave up one hit and no walks.

Point Park did all of its scoring in the fifth inning. Cole Horew, who was 4 for 4, got the inning started with a single and a stolen base. With two outs and runners at second and third, Erik Montero delivered a clutch base hit to make the score 1-0.

The Pioneers kept the pressure on, and two runs came around to score when Edberg Dominguez's grounder to the right side was misplayed.

That opening was more than enough for Beardsley and Domingo, who limited Brescia (2-14, 1-3 RSC) to six total hits. Point Park had nine hits with Ben Herstine going 2 for 4 with a double as the only Pioneers player beside Horew with more than one hit.

Brescia starter Hunter Kloke went 7.0 innings while giving up seven hits. He struck out five and walked four. Tyler Woods and Corey Mason each pitched 1.0 innings.

Point Park and Brescia conclude the series with a doubleheader Saturday at 11 a.m. CT (12 p.m. ET). The first game will be nine innings followed by the nightcap of seven innings.
