Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

AUBURNDALE, Fla. -- No. 25 Point Park University baseball pounded Roosevelt (Ill.) University on Day 2 in Florida by a score of 16-6 on Saturday night. The game ended after eight innings on the 10-run rule although Point Park was up 15-1 in the fifth.

Gianmarco Marcelletti had a three-run homer in the top of the first, and Isaac Santana smashed a grand slam to cap off a nine-run fifth inning for the Pioneers. Those were the two big hitters and the two big innings in the victory.

Marcelletti was 3 for 3 with four RBIs, and his homer punctuated a four-run first inning as Point Park took control. Santana was 2 for 3, and all five of his RBIs came in the fifth inning.

Santana stroked an RBI single to get the big rally going. Lots of walks forced in runs and kept the bases loaded until Santana came back around for his big blast.

Point Park drew 11 walks and needed only nine hits to do its offensive damage. Marcelletti combined for nine of the RBIs.

With the early lead, winning pitcher Jonathan Pacheco (1-1) settled in to give up only one earned run in 5.0 innings. He struck out six, walked only one and allowed just two hits.

A total of four pitchers worked for the Pioneers with Tyler Pullin, Kenneth Rolon and Ramon Medina covering the last three innings.
