POINT PARK 8, WVU TECH 0
In the first game, it didn't take long for the bats to produce as Ed Pfluger belted a solo shot to deep left field in the bottom of the first. His bomb easily cleared the wall, which measures 347 feet down the left-field line.

Easton Klein, the mornings starting pitcher, kept men off base and continued to put up zeros inning after inning, the Pioneers were able to extend their lead to 2-0 in the bottom fourth off an RBI single from Gianmarco Marcelletti.

Jared Campbell continued the scoring in the fifth with a sacrifice fly to deep left field, bringing Isaac Santana to the plate. Marcelletti wasn't finished, as the slugger pulled one out of Pullman Park's deep left field, making it 4-0 with a solo homer.

With Klein's shutout continuing on the mound, the Pioneers kept a comfortable lead. In the eighth, Point Park extended its lead to 8-0 off a two-run double from the catcher Luis Mujica and a couple of more runs scoring on later errors.

Klein pitched into the ninth inning and got all but the final two outs. In 8.1 innings he racked up 12 strikeouts and allowed only three hits. He walked only one, and 10 of the 12 punchouts were swinging. Jose Moreno finished the side in the ninth.

POINT PARK 6, WVU TECH 4
In game two, the Golden Bears got off to a much better start. WVU Tech built a 4-0 lead through its first three times at bat with two in the first and one each in the second and third.

But the Pioneers found their way back with some offense in the middle and late innings. Point Park got on the board in the third when Edwin De La Rosa singled and used his speed to score on a later error.

A couple of hits in the fourth -- a double by Gianmarco Marcelleti and an RBI single by Isaac Santana, made the score 4-2.

In the fifth, Ed Pfluger had a blast into the big left field gap. The bases were loaded, and all three runners scored -- Danilo Leon, Jared Campbell and Luis Hernandez -- for a 5-4 lead. Pfluger, who had four RBIs -- drove in the eventual winning runs in each game.

Joathan Rivera (4-0) got the win in five innings as the Point Park starter. He battled through the early runs and kept things there long enough for the offense to eventually come around. He struck out seven to help work around nine hits and four runs.

To top it off, late in the bottom of the sixth, Jared Campbell earned another sacrifice fly bringing home Leon for his second run of the game.

The Pioneers never looked back as Leo Diaz pitched the final two innings. He achieved his fourth save so far in his first year with the Pioneers, and only allowed one hit in his appearance.
