Point Park knocks off strokes in Rd 2 at RSC Championship

FLORENCE, Ind. -- Point Park University men's golf knocked 12 strokes off its scorecard from Sunday's first round to Monday's second round at the River States Conference Men's Golf Championship. The Pioneers opened up wtih a team score of 348 on Sunday but improved things to 336 on Monday.

The championship is being played at Belterra Golf Club in Florence, Ind. The Pioneers have 18 more holes for the final round on Monday. The Pioneers have been 10th of 12 teams after each of the first two days leading Alice Lloyd (Ky.) and Carlow (Pa.).

Freshman Britton Bringhurst shot a team-best 78 on Monday. Starting on No. 10, he birdied No. 18 to go out in 39. He came back in in 39 as well for a 6-over par round.

Point Park had two players in the 70s on Monday with sophomore Anthony Santilli carding a 79. He had three birdies on the day, including two in a row on No. 17 & 18 to finish out his first nine holes.

Santilli is tied for 27th out of the 59 players in the field, and Bringhurst is three spots back in a tie for 30th to lead the Pioneers so far.

Sophomore Tyler Hillard is tied for 43rd after an 87 on Monday. Point Park's senior Noah Marshalek opened up with an 88 for his best round of the weekend, and freshman teammate Jacob Kubick shot 92 on Monday for his best in the championship.
