BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – West Virginia Wesleyan held on to an early 2-1 lead to come away with a victory over Point Park on Sunday afternoon at Culpepper Stadium in Buckhannon, West Virginia.
The Bobcats got on the scoreboard first with an unassisted goal by Adam Gribben in the 12th minute. Nine minutes later, Archie Farquhar used an assist from Dillon Rajkovic to make it 2-0 in favor of the Bobcats.
Point Park cut the Wesleyan advantage in half with a goal by Nathan Lastreto in the 26th minute. Fridolin Gefrorer recorded an assist on the Point Park goal.
Statistically, both teams took 14 shots on the afternoon, with the Bobcats holdoing a 6-4 edge in shots on goal. Point Park had three of the games four corner kicks.
In addition to Lastreto's goal, Cheroky Briard, Nils Benning and Ruben Kuypers recorded shots on goal for the Pioneers on Sunday.
Point Park (5-5-1, 3-5-1 MEC) will head to Athens, West Virginia to take on Concord on Wednesday afternoon in MEC play. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
