PITTSBURGH – Wheeling's late goal forced a draw for the Point Park women's soccer team on Wednesday afternoon at Highmark Stadium in Pittsburgh.
The Pioneers' record moved to 2-8-4 overall and 1-7-2 in MEC play. Wheeling is now 4-9-1 overall and 3-7-1 in league play.
Point Park's
Jamie Spurrell scored the first goal of the game in the seventh minute, an unassisted shot from the top of the box.
Lily Hanna used an assist from Mary DiFonzo in the 13
th minute to knot the score at a goal apiece. In the 18
th minute, Hanna found the back of the net again, this time with an assist from Graceylyn Hanna to make it 2-1 Cardinals.
The score remained the same until the 75
th minute when
Vanessa Vazquez scored an unassisted goal.
In the 80
th minute, Point Park took a 3-2 lead when Vazquez scored her second goal of the game and fourth of the season.

With just 27 seconds remaining, Wheeling's Maira Alevato came up with a loose ball in front of the Point Park goal and found the back of the net, beating the goal keeper in the upper right of the goal.
Point Park finished the afternoon with a 19-12 advantage in shots, including an 11-5 edge in shots on goal. The Pioneers also had a 6-3 edge in shots on goal.
Point Park's
Frederieke Rijlaarsdam made the start in goal and recorded two saves in the game. Wheeling's Sam Faulkner made eight saves.
Point Park will host Frostburg State on senior day this Saturday. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. at Highmark Stadium.
