Luke McKenna Turns In Top 10 Finish at MEC Championship

WHEELING, W.Va. – Point Park's Luke McKenna finished ninth at the 2024 Mountain East Conference Men's Cross Country Championship on Saturday afternoon at Oglebay Resort's Crispin Golf Course.
 
McKenna's time of 25:54.39 helped him garner first team All-MEC honors for the 2024 season.
 
Jannik Windelband finished in 31st place with a time of 27:13.53, followed by Josh Gosselin in 50th place with a time of 28:25.87.
 
Point Park finished with 184 points on Saturday, placing seventh out of 11 teams at the championship.
 
Davis & Elkins had five runners finish in the top eight to win the 2024 MEC Championship in Men's Cross Country. The Senators finished with 24 points ahead of Charleston (45), Concord (102), West Virginia Wesleyan (120) and West Liberty (168) to round out the top five.
 
Davis & Elkins' Jan Thewes (25:00.23) edged out Charleston's Sam Idiens (25:00.53) for the individual championship on Saturday. Thewes was also voted the league's Runner of the Year. The top eight individuals in Saturday's race came from D&E or the University of Charleston.
 
The Point Park men's cross country team will wrap up the 2024 season on Saturday, Nov. 9 at the Saint Francis Red Flash Rally in Loretto, Pa. The event will be held at the B&D Acres Cross Country Course.
