FAIRMONT, W.Va. – Point Park dropped its Mountain East Conference finale on Sunday afternoon, falling 3-1 at Fairmont State's Duvall-Rosier Field.
Fairmont State (11-5-1, 9-4 MEC) got on the board first in the 28
th minute, getting a goal from Serenity Thomas, her 10
th of the 2024 season. The Falcons added a second first-half goal in the 37
th minute off the foot of Valentina Gianinetto's penalty kick.
Point Park's
Jurnee Durrett-Finney took the second half kickoff and scored the lone goal of the game for the Pioneers. It was her second goal of the season and helped the Pioneers cut the Falcon's lead in half with 44 minutes to play.
In the 53
rd minute, Gianinetto scored again, with an assist from Thomas, to make the lead 3-1 in favor of Fairmont State.
Fairmont State had an 8-7 advantage in total shots, with both teams recording five shots on goal in the game.

Vanessa Vazquez (2) combined for five of Point Park's shots on Sunday.
Point Park returns home to host Salem University on Wednesday evening at Highmark Stadium. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. in the Pioneers' 2024 season finale.
