PITTSBURGH- Point Park men's soccer capped off the 2024 campaign with a 4-3 win over Salem on senior night at Highmark Stadium led by
Javier Morejon's hat-trick.

The Pioneers attacked early, scoring within the first minute on an
Alexis Lamontagne's goal, the first of the season for the senior. Point Park held a 1-0 lead throughout the first 45 minutes of play

Salem answered back in the second half, picking up back-to-back goals to put the Tigers up 2-1. Carter Block (3) got the Tigers onthe board in the 54th minute followed up by Aldair Kardenas (8)Â in the 55th minute.Â

Point Park's Morejon went on to score back-to-back-to-back goals in the 68
th, 70
th, and 76
th minute to put the Pioneers back in front 3-2.
Ian Thomas,
Baptiste Gaume, and
Ruben Kuypers assisted on the three goals.

Salem picked up one more goal on a Aldair penalty kick in the 79
th minute but that wasn't enough as the Pioneers held out for the final 10 minutes of the game to pick up their sixth win of the season.

On the night Point Park had 14 shots with six coming on goal while Salem registered 10 shots with four on goal. The Pioneers also had a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Gus Wytcherley picked up his first win in goal for the Pioneers as the freshman went all 90 minutes for Point Park. Wytcherley had one save in the game.

Point Park finishes their first year in the MEC and NCAA with a 6-10-1 overall record and a 3-10-1 record in MEC Play. For the year the Pioneers picked up 26 goals led by
Nils Benning and
Javier Morejon with three apiece. Morejon also led the Pioneers with 16 points on the year in 13 games played.
