Box Score 2 CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Point Park University baseball won its seventh-consecutive series taking two out of three games at WVU Tech this past weekend at GoMart Ballpark in Charleston, W.Va.
The Pioneers (28-11, 16-5 RSC) took the River States Conference set with a 7-0 victory in the third and final game on Sunday. WVU Tech (21-19, 10-10 RSC) started Sunday with a 7-5 win to even the series at the time.
Point Park has won all seven of its conference series weekends so far this year. That keeps the Pioneers in first place in the RSC East Division, 2.0 games ahead of Shawnee State (Ohio) (21-19, 14-7 RSC) with three games to play.
The following is a recap of Sunday's doubleheader:
WVU TECH 7, POINT PARK 5
The Golden Bears came back from a 3-1 deficit in the middle innings to win Sunday's opener, 7-5. They did it with the homer as Hunter Fansler and Noah Cummings both delivered a two-run shot in the fifth inning to push WVU Tech in front, 5-3. For Fansler, it was his second of the game.
WVU Tech added a couple of more runs with some key hits in the sixth to pad the lead to 7-4.
Point Park got within 7-5 on Jared Campbell's solo homer in the eighth, but that's as close as the Pioneers got the rest of the way.
Robert Kelley worked the first 6.1 innings for WVU Tech giving up 11 hits but limiting things to four runs. He got the key strike outs to work around those hits and three walks. Pedro Luciano got the save pitching the final 2.2 innings with only two hits and one run allowed.
Chris Williams led the hitting for Point Park goint 4 for 5. Carlos Martinez was 3 for 4 with a solo homer in the third inning and an RBI double in the sixth. Omar Morillo had a pair of hits and a walk.
Joathan Rivera was the Point Park starter, and he lasted 4.1 innings. He struck out three and walked none. Jose Moreno pitched the next 1.0 inning on two hits with Javier Cardoso II working 2.2 innings with one hit and no runs charged to him.
POINT PARK 7, WVU TECH 0
Ethan Parker threw a two-hit shutout in the decisive game of the series as the Pioneers won, 7-0. The freshman right-hander from Pittsburgh came through with a complete game of 7.0 innings blanking the Golden Bears.
Parker faced 25 batters -- only four over the minimum -- with base runners reaching on two singles, a walk and two hit batters. Parker retired the Golden Bears in order in the third, fourth and sixth innings and set down 10 in a row at one point.
Point Park had a couple of big bashes to support Parker. Isaac Santana and Luis Gonzalez each hit a three-run homer for the Pioneers. Those came in the third and seventh innings to build the lead.
Santana's bomb came with two outs and was after a couple of walks. A base hit and an error to start the seventh came right before Gonzalez's blast.
The sixth inning was a different story with Point Park putting together three hits, the last of which was Omar Morillo's infield single to bring in a run.
Nine different players had a hit for Point Park with Michali Brito 2 for 2 with a double, two walks and a run. Carlos Martinez was 2 for 3 with a walk and a run.

Point Park's schedule home games verus Wilberforce (Ohio) on April 16 have been cancelled. The Pioneers will go to W&J for a non-conference matchup on April 17, which has has been changed to a doubleheader at 2:00 p.m.
