WALESKA, Ga. -- #3 Point Park hit four home runs including a grand slam by Jared Campbell in the top of the seventh to defeat #2 Jessup (Calif.) 13-10 in a very back and forth contest in the opening game of the NAIA Baseball National Championship Opening Round in the Waleska Bracket.
Jessup attacked first as the Warriors capitalized on some miscues by the Point Park pitching and defense. Trey Furrey reached base on an error, then advanced to third following two hit batters.
Furrey then came across to score on a wild pitch to give Jessup the first run of the game as the Warriors led 1-0.

In what would become a seemingly normal trend in the back-and-forth affair, the Pioneers were able to once again tie the game up as Javier Jr. hit a two-run home over the center field wall to score Jean Santos who was courtesy running for the catcher Michali Brito who had reached base on a walk.

A single by Burroughs and a walk by Morillo then loaded the bases for Jared Campbell who struck a massive grand slam over the left center wall to finally put the Pioneers out in front 11-7.
Jessup had a big inning themselves in the bottom of the seventh as the Warriors were able to score three runs on one hit and some pitching struggles by the Pioneers allowed the Warriors to crawl back within one.
Point Park was able to add on two more runs in the top of the eighth as Jordon Campbell led the inning off with a walk and eventually came around to score on a single to right field by Morillo to extend the lead to 12-10.

Point Park was able to escape out of a bases loaded jam as Javier Cardoso II was able to strike out Cole Hazel for the third out to protect the Pioneers three run lead in the bottom of the eighth.
Jessup started the bottom of the ninth with a single to right field, but a 3-6 double play shut down any chances for the Warriors as their final batter of the contest flied out to center field to give the Pioneers a 13-10 win.
Ramon Rodriquez (1-0) earned the win for the Pioneers going 6.0 innings allowing eight runs of which only six were earned on four hits while striking out five.
Javier Cardoso II got the save as he went 2.2 innings allowing only three hits and no runs.
