Box Score PITTSBURGH – West Virginia Wesleyan scored a goal late in the first half and added two goals late in the second half to pick up a 3-0 win over Point Park on Wednesday night at Highmark Stadium.
Point Park slips to 3-3-1 overall and 2-3-1 in league play following the setback. Wesleyan improved to 2-4 overall and 2-3 in MEC matches.
Chiedozi Ozo-Undeze put Wesleyan on the board in the 38th minutes, finding the back of the net with an assist from Dajun Barthley.
The score remained the same until the 80th minute, when Hayden Dodd set up a goal by Dillon Rajkovic to make a 2-0 Bobcats. After earning a penalty kick in the 83rd minute, Casey Bunker pushed the Wesleyan lead to 3-0 on a successful PK.
The Bobcats held a 17-9 advantage in total shots, including an 8-6 edge in shots on goal.
The game also featured 14 corner kicks - eight by Wesleyan and six from Point Park.
Six different PPU players put shots on goal on Wednesday night, including Finn Syson, Moritz Sarfert, Cheroky Briard, Nils Benning, Ido Chalamish and Fridolin Gefrorer.
David Ali made the start in the Point Park goal and finished the night with five saves. James Docherty earned the win in goal for the Bobcats, turning away six Pioneer shot attempts.
Point Park will now hit the road for a non-conference matchup at Salem University on Sunday at 4 p.m.
