YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Point Park women's track and field team set two school records on day one of the Youngstown State Collegiate Mid-Major on Friday.
Lotte Zethof finished second in the 500m with a school record time of 1:21.01. She was one of three Pioneers to finish in the top 10 of the 500m event.
Paige Marnell tuned in the second-fastest time in school history and finished fourth in the event with a time of 1:22.08, while
Paige McMahon clocked a 1:25.94 to finish ninth overall in the event.
In the women's pentathlon,
Dunya Van den Tooren finished with a school-record performance of 3,134 points. She finished seventh in the event on Friday. Van den Tooren finished just 160 points shy of hitting a NCAA Division II qualifying mark in the event.
In the 5000m,
Cassondra O'Connor was first to cross the finish line with a time of 17:31.10. The mark ranks second in school history. In addition,
Jana Schmid turned in a third-place finish in the 1000m with a time of 3:01.62. Schmid's mark was good enough for third in Point Park history.
Action continues at 9 a.m. on Saturday from YSU. Saturday's events include the shot put, triple jump, high jump, mile, 400m, 60m, 60m hurdles, 800m, 200m, 3000m, and 4x400 relay.
