PITTSBURGH – The second-ranked University of Charleston men's soccer team proved to be too much in a 7-0 victory over Point Park on Monday afternoon at Highmark Stadium.
Charleston controlled the ball for most of the afternoon and fired 23 shots at the Point Park defense in the win. The Golden Eagles had a 9-1 advantage in on-target shots, with seven of the nine shots finding the back of the net.
Charleston was led in the game by Leonardo Dutra with one goal and three assists. Tomas Petrungaro added one goal and two assists for the Golden Eagles, while Joao Silva and Sam Newell recorded two assists apiece.
Fridolin Gefrorer recorded the only on-target shot for the Pioneers late in the second half, but the shot was turned away by UC goalkeeper Konstantinos Parisis.
Point Park will wrap up the regular season against Salem on Wednesday evening at Highmark Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. on senior day.
