WHEELING, W.Va. – Point Park freshman
Rebecca Pihlgren scored her 10
th goal of the season to help the Pioneers to a 1-0 win over Wheeling University on Sunday afternoon at Bishop Schmitt Stadium.
Pihlgren's goal was assisted by senior and captain
Sterre Kuijper in the 80
th minute of the game. Pihlgren is currently tied for second place in the MEC with her 10 goals this fall. She also ranks second in the league in points.
Statistically, Point Park held a 5-2 advantage in on-target shots in the game. PPU also had a 5-2 edge in corner kicks.
In additional Pihlgren's offense,
Austyn Burkett had two shots on goal in the game, while Kuijper and
Paula Sole added one apiece.
Frederieke Rijlaarsdam made the start in goal for Point Park and earned the clean sheet in the win. She made two saves.
Point Park wrapped up conference play with a 6-5-3 mark in 2025 (7-6-4 overall). Point Park is locked into the No. 3 seed in next week's MEC Tournament and will open postseason play at either Concord or Charleston on Sunday, Nov. 9.
The Pioneers will wrap up the regular season against Salem in a non-conference match on Wednesday evening at Highmark Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 5 p.m. on senior night.
