TIFFIN, Ohio – The Point Park women's wrestling team made program history on Saturday, winning the first two dual matches in program history during the 2025 Berg Holiday Duals hosted by Heidelberg University.
Overall, the Pioneers went 2-3 on the day, defeating Trine University (24-20) and host Heidelberg (34-12) in dual matches during the event. PPU dropped duals against West Liberty (12-46), Otterbein (5-54) and Tiffin (12-39).
In the first dual of the day against Trine, Point Park faced an 11-0 deficit before
Daniela Contin earned a fall victory over Angel Kreider at 124 pounds. Trine would take a 17-point advantage after six weight classes, but from there, the Pioneers regrouped and rallied.
Elizabeth Watts began the rally with a 12-2 tech-fall victory at 145, before
Cailyn Casto,
Payton Moyer and
Amanda Prince each earned six points at 160, 180 and 207.
In round four against host Heidelberg, Point Park took an early lead with
Rei Vlahov winning by tech-fall (10-0) at 110 and Contin winning by default at 124.
A win by Heidelberg gave the hosts a one-point advantage, but Point Park took the final 23 points in the dual to run away with the win. At 145, Watts won by fall in 43 seconds, while Casto won by tech-fall (10-0) at 160. Moyer wrapped up the dual win with a fall in 24 seconds at 180 pounds. Prince earned a win by default at 207.
Point Park will now break for the holidays, before returning to competition on Sunday, Jan. 11 at the Aldred State Open in New York.
