HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Point Park men's and women's indoor track and field teams will compete in their first-ever Mountain East Conference Championships on Sunday and Monday at Marshall University. The event gets underway on Sunday at noon in Huntington, West Virginia.
Both Pioneer indoor track & field teams are coming off conference championship wins in 2023-24, winning the River States Conference as a member of the NAIA.
Heading into this weekend's action, the Pioneer rank in the Top 20 of the USTFCCCA Atlantic Region Rankings, with the women ranked 12
th and the men checking in at No. 20 last week.
Rankings Heading into Championship Weekend
Men's Track & Field
- Akeem Mustapha enters championship weekend ranked first in the MEC in the high jump (2.02m) and the long jump (7.45m). He also ranks sixth in the 60m hurdles (8.48), eighth in the triple jump (13.24m), and 11th in the 60 meters (6.97).
- His mark of 7.45m in the long jump was good enough for a DII qualifying standard.
- In the field, Chevaughn Fletcher ranks fourth in the MEC in the shot put (15.13m) and fifth in the weight throw (15.67m).
- In the 60m hurdles, Point Park's Kamar Sutherland ranks fourth in the league with a time of 8.28.
- Maxwell Goode recorded the sixth-best mark in the MEC this season in the tiple jump with a mark of 13.50m at the Spire Collegiate Games (2/15/25).
- Goode also ranks fourth in the MEC in the long jump (6.77m). Additionally, Michael Quigley ranks fifth in the MEC in long jump (6.76m), right behind Goode.
- In the distance events on the track, Jannik Windelband ranks eighth in the MEC in the mile (4:17.69), 11th in the 3000m (8:40.08), and 12th in the 800m (1:57.06).
Women's Track & Field
- Heading into this weekend's championship, Dunya Van den Tooren ranks first in the MEC in the high jump (1.68m) and third in the pentathlon (3134). She also ranks 11th in the long jump (5.09m) and 13th in the 60m hurdles (9.89).
- In addition to Van den Tooren, teammate Emma Pavelek ranks third in the MEC in the high jump with a mark of 1.61m.
- In distance events, Cassondra O'Connor ranks second in the MEC in both the 3000m (10:04.86) and 5000m (17:31.10).
- Allison Plassio ranks third in the MEC in the mile (5:12.91) and sixth in the 3000m (10:20.46).
- In the 800m, Jana Schmid ranks third in the league with a time of 2:19.87 this season, while also ranking ninth in both the mile and 3000m.
- In the 400m, Mya Greschner ranks fourth with a time of 58.30.
- Diamond Rush enters the championship ranked sixth in the 200m (25.35) and 400m (59.62), which ranking 13th in the 60m (8.00).
- In field events, Emma Roemer enters the championship ranked in the Top 10 in the MEC in four different events, including fifth in the pentathlon (2789), seventh in the 60m hurdles (9.44), eighth in the triple jump (10.42m), and ninth in the long jump (5.17m).
- Point Park also enters the championship ranked second in the MEC in the 4x400 Relay (Rush, Paige Marnell, Casey Colcombe, Greschner) with a time of 4:02.78.
