Softball Drops Two in Clermont

CLERMONT, Fla. – The Point Park softball team dropped contests to Minnesota State University – Mankato and Bemidji State University (Minn.) 8-0 and 18-1 at The Spring Games.

Game 1
Point Park began the day with an 8-0 five inning loss to Minnesota State Mankato on Legends Way Field #3.

Mankato put one run up in the second, three runs in the third, two runs in the fourth, and two runs in the fifth to end the contest in five innings.

Point Park had four hits in the contest with Melanie Taylor, Mia Arndt, Bella Magliocco, and Emma Henry all picking up hits for the Pioneers.

Jaylyn Mullenax and Ava Hubble combined in the circle for the Pioneers. Mullenax (1-3) started the game going 4.0 innings, giving up seven hits and six runs (four earned) while issuing two walks to be tagged with the loss. Mullenax registered five strikeouts against Mankato.

Ava Hubble made her first appearance of the season in the fifth inning throwing 0.1 innings for the Pioneers. Hubble gave up one hit and two runs while issuing a walk.

Game 2
The Pioneers dropped their second contest of the day to Bemidji State, losing to the Beavers 18-1.

Bemidji State started the game off with two huge innings, scoring six in the first and eight in the second to put the Beavers out front. The Beavers put up four runs over the next three innings to hold off Point Park.

On the night the Pioneers had five hits against Bemidji State. Payton Haller led Point Park going 2-2. Melanie Taylor, Kaylee Fabiano, and Breanna Pies had the other hits for the Pioneers.

Savannah Lee was tagged with the loss falling to 0-3 to begin the year.
 
Up Next
Point Park will finish out their Florida trip with two more games at Legends Way Ballfields. Point Park will start the day off against Lake Erie College at 3:00 p.m. then finish up the day against Queens College (N.Y.)  at 5:15 p.m.
