PITTSBURGH — The Point Park softball team picked up two walk-off wins over Wheeling University on Saturday afternoon at Fairhaven Park to even up their conference record at 2-2 to begin the year.
Game 1
Remington Koi had the game winning hit in the bottom of the seventh as Koi doubled off the left field fence to score Mia Arndt and Melanie Taylor giving the Pioneers a 3-1 win over Wheeling.
The Cardinals started the scoring off in the bottom of the fourth as Brooklyn Sanders grounded out to the pitcher scoring Keke Warrix.
Both teams were unable to score again until the Pioneers offense came through in the bottom of the seventh.
Gia Labrie reached first on an error followed up by Julia Hill also reaching base on an error to put runners on first and second for Mia Arndt.
Arndt came through with a single to left field to load the bases for Melanie Taylor who then followed up with a single of her own to score LaBrie tying the game up at 1-1.
Remington Koi delivered during the next at bat hitting a double to the left field fence to score Taylor and Arndt, giving the Pioneers their first MEC win.
Jaylyn Mullenax went the complete distance in the circle for the Pioneers throwing 7.0 innings to pick up her third win of the season. Mullenax gave up six hits and only one run while striking out seven.
Koi and Taylor led the Point Park offense with a hit each while Koi had two RBI's and Taylor had one.
Game 2
Just like the first game the Pioneers rallied back late, this time in the eighth inning as Mia Arndt singled to left field to score Bella Magliocco giving Point Park the 3-1 win.
Point Park got the offense started in the first inning as Emma Henry had an RBI single to left field scoring Melanie Taylor who reached base on a single to begin the inning for the Pioneers.
Wheeling answered back in the too of the second as Priscilla Villarreal had an RBI single to right field to tie the game 1-1.
The Pioneers wouldn't be outdone though, retaking the lead in the bottom of the third as Gia Labrie doubled to center scoring Henry to give Point Park a 2-1 lead.
Wheeling's Chyla Miller tripled to right field in the top of the sixth to score Grace Mummery, tying the game once again.
Point Park didn't go out quite once again as the Pioneers rallied in extra innings.
With two-outs Bella Magliocco reached first on a fielders choice to put a runner on for Julia Hill. Hill followed up Magliocco with a double to center field to put two runners on for Arndt.
Arndt came through with a single to center field to score Magliocco giving the Pioneers the 3-2 win.
Savannah Lee got the win going all 8.0 innings for Point Park. Lee gave up six hits and two runs while picking up two strikeouts. Lee moves to 2-5 on the season.
Arndt, Hill, and Henry led the Pioneers with two hits apiece. Henry and Arndt each had an RBI.
With the wins Point Park moves to 5-9 overall and 2-2 in Mountain East Conference play.

Point Park will head back on the road for a non-conference matchup with Malone (Ohio) on Tuesday March 18. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
