ELKINS, W.Va. – The Point Park softball team faced Davis & Elkins at Joni Smith Field on Sunday afternoon. Point Park took game one 8-7 to start the day off before game two got suspended due to inclement weather with the Pioneers up 5-0 in the bottom of the second.
Game 1
A two-run home run by
Julia Hill in the top of the seventh proved to be the go-ahead run for Point Park as the Pioneers beat Davis & Elkins 8-7 in game one.
The Pioneers picked up right where they left of yesterday by putting up big numbers in the first two innings as Point Park went up 5-0.

Point Park exploded for four runs in the bottom of the second as Gia Labrie started the scoring on a passed ball to put the Pioneers up 2-0.
With runners on second and third,
Remington Koi hit a double to center field to score both
Melanie Taylor and
Julia Hill. Arndt then came through with a triple to center field bringing Koi home, putting Point Park out in front of the Senators 5-0.
The Senators answered back in the bottom of the third with a run of their own on a double by Linzey Allard to center field, scoring Liza Gutierrez.
Point Park put another run on the board in the bottom of the fourth as Arndt reached base on an infield single bringing in Taylor.
Davis & Elkins picked up three more runs in the bottom of the fifth, and one in the bottom of the sixth to make the game 6-5 in favor of Point Park going into the top of the seventh.
With two-outs, Gia Labrie reached base on a single to right field to put one on for
Julia Hill who sent her first home run of the season out of the park over the right center field fence putting the Pioneers up 8-5 going into the bottom of the seventh.
The Senators did not go out quietly in the bottom of the seventh as Allie Cuellar hit a two-run home run of her own to make it 8-7.

Jaylyn Mullenax was able to get out of the jam with two fly-outs to center field to give the Pioneers the 8-7 game one win.
Mullenax (7-6) went 7.0 innings giving up seven runs on 12 hits while striking out five. Mullenax threw an impressive 131 pitches in the complete game win.

Remington Koi all had two hits apiece. Hill, Koi, and Arndt each had two RBIs in the win while Hill scored twice.

Point Park will head back home to Pittsburgh with a 11-14 overall record and 6-5 in Mountain East Conference play. Point Park will continue Mountain East Conference play next Saturday and Sunday as the Pioneers host Frostburg State and Fairmont State. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on both days. Thursday's game originally scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at Seton Hill has now been canceled.
