PITTSBURGH—The Point Park softball team got a split on senior day against the Glenville State Pioneers in the final regular season doubleheader at Fairhaven Park for the 2025 season. Point Park walked off Glenville 8-7 in game one before falling 3-1 in game two.
Game 1
Senior
Julia Hill made her mark on senior day in game one as the Senior from Buffalo, New York hit a walk-off single to right center in the bottom of the seventh to give the Pioneers the 8-7 win.
Glenville State put up four runs through the first three innings until the Pioneers finally broke through in the bottom of the third with three runs to make it 4-3 going into the top of the fifth.
Remington Koi reached base on an infield single to shortstop followed by a
Mia Arndt walk. Koi and Arndt advance to second and third on a wild pitch to put runners in scoring position for
Gianna Welsh. Welsh hit a groundball to the shortstop that couldn't be fielded cleanly to score Koi.
With
Jana Hess pinch running for Welsh,
Alyssa Wahl roped an RBI double to right center to score Hess.
The Glenville State Pioneers extended their lead in the top of the third as Glenville State put up three more runs on the board highlighted by a two-run home run by Emma McLean.
Down 7-3 going into the bottom of the seventh the Point Park offense got hot quick as the Pioneers scored five runs on six hits.
Melanie Taylor led the inning off with a walk before Koi singled down the right field line to put two runners on for Welsh who singled to center field to score Taylor making it 7-4.
The Pioneers did the most damage with two outs as
Alyssa Wahl singled to right field to score
Kaylee Fabiano who was pinch running for Welsh.
Emma Henry quickly followed up Wahl with a big double to center field to tie the game, scoring both Wahl and
Ava Hubble, who was pinch running for
Bella Magliocco who got on base via a fielder's choice.
Gia Labrie got in on the action with a single of her own to put runners on first and third for
Julia Hill with two-outs.
On the first pitch Hill quickly got to work singling over the head of the second basemen to score Henry and give the Pioneers the 8-7 win.
Alyssa Wahl got the win moving to 3-4 on the season. Wahl went a complete game giving up seven runs on 13 hits.
For the Pioneer offense multiple players had two hits with Koi, Welsh, Wahl, and LaBrie each picking up a pair.
Emma Henry went 1-for-4 with two RBIs. Hill went 1-for-3 with the game winning RBI.
Game 2
In game two Glenville State avoided the sweep beating Point Park 3-1.
Glenville State got on the board first in the top of the second on a solo home run by Delaney Warnick. The Glenville State Pioneers extended their lead in the top of the fourth on an RBI single to making it 2-0 in favor of Glenville.
Point Park avoided the shutout, putting up a run in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI triple by
Mia Arndt to score
Melanie Taylor.
Glenville tacked on another run in the top of the seventh to pad their lead before getting a huge double-play in the bottom of the seventh to end the Pioneers threat.
Savannah Lee went all 7.0 innings giving up nine three runs on nine hits in the loss. Lee falls to 3-14 on the season.
Senior
Melanie Taylor led the Pioneers going 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Point Park will have a few days off before the Pioneers travel to West Liberty on Friday and then Wheeling on Sunday. Point Park will go into the series against West Liberty with a 14-26 overall record and an 8-16 conference record.
