Bryan Neal Steps Away After 16 Seasons

PITTSBURGH – Point Park University assistant baseball coach Bryan Neal is stepping away from the program after 20 seasons as a coach and player for the Pioneers.

The Point Park Hall of Famer spent 16 seasons on the Pioneer coaching staff, helping PPU to eight regular season conference championships, six tournament championships, and eight national tournament appearances. He helped the program collect over 550 wins with a .701 winning percentage.

"The first thing that comes to mind is thank you," said Point Park head baseball coach Loren Torres. "We thank Bryan for everything he put into the journey and his loyalty for the past 16 seasons. When we took over the program in 2009, it was lacking direction, and Bryan helped us elevate the program, bringing dominance, tradition and standards back.

"I am grateful to have shared the past 16-plus years with Bryan. It will be hard to look to the side and not see #11 go to war with us this spring, but we wish him well in the next chapter of his life as he peruses other professional opportunities," Torres added.

In 2013, Neal was inducted into the Point Park Sports Hall of Fame. His storied career included a record of 24-10 with school records in total innings pitched and total wins. He also finished his career ranked fourth in career strikeouts.

"As a player and coach combined, Coach Bry was a part of more wins than anyone in the history of Point Park Baseball," said Associate Head Coach Rocky Capobianco. "He came into every season, every game, and every practice with drive, passion and loyalty for Point Park Baseball. For me, I am going to miss being around my friend every day at the ball field."
