BRIDGEPORT, W.Va.- Point Park women's cross country runner
Cassondra O'Connor was named the MEC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week the league announced on Monday afternoon.
O'Connor a redshirt sophomore from Pittsburgh took home the top spot in the West Liberty Invitational last Thursday for the second consecutive year. O'Connor finished the 5,000-meter race in 18:03.8, beating the field by 15 seconds. With O'Connor's help, Point Park finished first in the team results. O'Connor is the MEC's reigning Runner of the Year and also captured Freshman of the Year honors last year.
On the men's side, University of Charleston's Harry Witt was named the MEC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week after winning the West Liberty Invitational with a time of 18:54.1 in the 6,000-meter event.
