WINGATE, N.C. -- Harold Boyce has been named NCBWA National Pitcher of the Week, the writers announced on Thursday. Boyce is the first Pioneer to receive the honor since Point Park began its transition to NCAA Division II Athletics.
Â
Boyce, who has been named MEC Pitcher of the Week and NCBWA Division II Atlantic Region Pitcher of the Week, threw a no-hitter for Point Park on Friday, Mar. 20, against WV Wesleyan.
Â
Boyce struck out five batters and allowed zero walks over his seven shutout innings. Boyce allowed only two baserunners all game - both of whom were hit by a pitch.
Â
Boyce threw the first no-hitter for Point Park since Apr. 1, 2018. Nick Beardsley, Point Park's current pitching coach, was the last to accomplish the feat.Â
Â
Point Park will be back in action on Friday against Bluefield State before playing road doubleheaders against Glenville State on Saturday and Concord on Sunday.
