GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Point Park baseball opened its weekend conference series with a split against Glenville State on Saturday at the Ike and Sue Morris Complex.
Game 1: Point Park 6, Glenville State 3

After a scoreless first inning, Point Park's offense got going in the second. Blake Ewing led off with a walk, and two batters later, Carlos De La Vega doubled to left, moving Ewing to third. Sebastian Hernandez then walked to load the bases. Felix Gonzalez delivered with a single to left, scoring both Ewing and De La Vega to give Point Park a 2-0 lead.
Following a quiet bottom of the inning for Glenville State, Point Park added to its lead in the third when Ewing homered down the left field line for his fifth of the season, making it 3-0.
Glenville responded in the bottom of the third. David Arroyo led off with a single, followed by a Jacob Meadow single to put two on. Jetsel Cajig doubled down the right field line, driving in Arroyo and moving Meadow to third. Later in the inning, Zach Dellerman grounded out, but Meadow scored to cut the deficit to one at 3-2.
The hosts tied the game in the fourth when Arroyo doubled and later scored on an Adam Bright single, evening the score at 3-3.
Point Park broke the tie in the seventh. Chris Williams singled and stole second before Felix Rodriguez walked. Both runners advanced on steals, and Olindo Pezzone capped the rally with a three-run home run to left—his fifth of the season—giving Point Park a 6-3 lead - which later became the final.
Ramon Rodriguez (3-0) earned the win, pitching five and two-thirds innings with five strikeouts. Ethan Parker recorded the save, tossing one and a third innings and allowing just one hit. Glenville starter Grant Landis went 5 and a third innings, allowing three hits and striking out six. Trent Taylor took the loss after surrendering the go-ahead home run late.
Game 2: Glenville State 6, Point Park 4

Point Park struck first in Game 2. Chris Williams reached and advanced to third on an error, and Olindo Pezzone brought him home with an RBI single to left, giving Point Park a 1-0 lead.
Glenville answered in the bottom of the first. Ashton Crace reached on a fielder's choice, moved to second, and scored on a two-out single by Zach Laurie to tie the game.
The hosts took control in the second inning. Colby Guy led off with a double, followed by an RBI double from Arroyo. Meadow reached on an infield single, and a throwing error during a pickoff attempt allowed Arroyo to score. Gavin Blair later singled to move Meadow to third, and an error allowed Glenville to extend its lead to 4-1.
Glenville added two more runs in the third when Bright singled and Guy launched a two-run homer to right-center, making it 6-1 and ending Harold Boyce's outing.
Point Park began to chip away in the fifth. After a pitching change, Pezzone walked and Ewing hit his second home run of the day—his sixth of the season—to cut the deficit to 6-3.
In the sixth, Hernandez walked to start a rally, and with two outs, Felix Rodriguez doubled down the left field line to score him, trimming the lead to 6-4.
Point Park threatened again in the seventh. Pezzone and Ewing both walked to bring the tying run to the plate, but Glenville's Ashton Crace forced a 6-4-3 double play to end the game.
Dellerman (4-1) earned the win, allowing three hits and one unearned run over four innings. Crace picked up the save with a scoreless seventh. Boyce (2-2) took the loss, giving up six runs (five earned) in two innings.
With the split, Point Park moves to 10-7 overall and 4-2 in MEC play. Glenville State improves to 13-9 overall and 2-4 in conference play.
