PITTSBURGH -- Point Park's Blake Ewing and Trevor Jones were both named to the Academic All-District Team, the College Sports Communicators announced Tuesday.
Ewing, who advances to the ballot for the Academic All-American Team, posted a 3.67 GPA as a Sports, Arts and Entertainment Management major. He was named to the All-MEC First Team after finishing second in the conference with 13 home runs. Ewing finished second on the team in OPS (1.026), RBIs (36), slugging (.600) and runs (36).
Ewing was named MEC Player of the Week on Mar. 23 and went on to be named NCBWA Atlantic Region Hitter of the Week.
Jones' GPA of 3.60 as a Sports Communication major earned him a spot on the team. Jones was named an All-MEC Honorable Mention and he earned a spot on the MEC Baseball All-Tournament Team. He batted .500 (5-for-10) over the tournament with five RBIs and a massive ninth-inning home run against Frostburg State. Jones was named MEC Player of the Week on Apr. 13, and he ranks second on the team in average (.290) and third in RBIs (32). Jones' 49 hits and six home runs both tied for third on the team.
