PITTSBURGH – After opening the season with a 3-1 record at the Division II Round Robin hosted by the USA Baseball Complex in Cary, North Carolina, the Pioneers will now travel to Winter Haven, Florida for six games in the Russmatt Tournament. The action will get underway Friday with a 9 a.m. matchup against Barry University at Chain of Lakes Park.
Friday's doubleheader day will continue when Point Park takes on Malone at 12:15.
A season ago, Point Park went 2-4 at the Russmatt Tournament, including wins over Wayne State (Mich.) and Wayne State (Neb.).
Sebastian Hernandez led the Pioneers at the plate last weekend in North Carolina, batting .429 with a double and four RBIs.
Felix Rodriguez went 3-for-8 (.375) with two doubles, three RBIs and four runs scored.
Chris Williams added five hits (batted .313), including two doubles, one triple, three runs scores and two RBIs. Williams also had three stolen bases last weekend.
On the hill,
Harold Boyce went 1-1, picking up a win over Dominican while falling to Wilmington with a late home run. He pitched six inning against Dominican, allowing just two runs on four hits.
Camden Dimidjian also picked up a win over Pace, allowing just three runs on five hits while striking out three.
Logan Creamer and
Carter Raper each recorded saves for the Pioneers.
