GREENSBURG, Pa. -- Point Park baseball fell to Seton Hill 8-1 on Tuesday in a non-conference matchup at the SHU Baseball Complex. The game was ended after the top of the seventh inning due to lightning.
Point Park's (22-13) lone run came via a home run from Chris Williams. Williams' home run to left center opened the scoring in the third inning. Williams moved into third place on the team in total bases with 50 thanks to his two-hit day. He is now one of six Pioneers to have multiple homers on the year.
Seton Hill (30-7) didn't take long to respond, with Owen Henne hitting a two-run single to center field and Jakob Haynes hitting a sacrifice fly to right to make it 3-1 Griffins in the third inning. Seton Hill scored four more runs in the fifth thanks to a double from Mason Metz and a three-run homer from Gage Wheaton. Ahr added a run on a sacrifice bunt in the sixth.
Williams' two hits led Point Park on Tuesday. Luis Gonzalez, Franklin Gomez Jr. and Carlos de la Vega all added knocks, with Gomez Jr.'s coming while pinch hitting.
Luke McCoy picked up the win for SHU, and Joey Tedesco moved to 2-1 on the year with the loss. Carter Raper started and pitched a scoreless inning. Logan Creamer, Logan Exler and Trevor Hancock all tossed scoreless frames for Point Park. Zane Griffaton led the Pioneers pitchers in strikeouts, fanning four over his 1.2 innings of work.

Point Park returns to action over the weekend when it hosts Frostburg State in MEC play at Point Park Field. The Pioneers and Bobcats are set for doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday with both games beginning at 1 p.m. Point Park (13-7 MEC) is three games back of Frostburg State (16-4) in the MEC North Division.
