WINGATE, N.C. -- Point Park's Camden Dimidjian was named the National Collegiate Baseball Writer's Association Division II Atlantic Region Pitcher of the Week, the writers announced.
Dimidjian pitched a complete game last Saturday for the Pioneers, striking out six batters and allowing only one run and three hits en route to being named MEC Pitcher of the Week. He allowed no walks over his 7.0 innings.
A native of Jefferson Hills, Pa., Dimidjian picked up his sixth win of the season on Saturday, tying Harold Boyce for the team lead and for second in the MEC. He leads the team with 60 punchouts over his 48.0 innings pitched. Dimidjian ranks fourth in the conference in strikeouts and is sixth-best across the MEC in ERA (3.00).
Dimidjian is one of three Pioneers to receive weekly honors from the NCBWA with Harold Boyce being named Atlantic Region & National Pitcher of the Week on Mar. 20 and Blake Ewing receiving Player of the Week on Mar. 25.
Dimidjian is tied with Boyce for the team lead in wins (six) and leads qualified Pioneers with his 0.94 WHIP and his 52 strikeouts over his 48.0 innings pitched. He is fourth in the MEC in strikeouts and fifth in ERA.
Dimidjian will return to action over the weekend as the Pioneers take on Wheeling in a four-game series. Friday night's doubleheader begins at 5, and the two teams will meet again for a doubleheader on Sunday at 1 p.m. Both doubleheaders will take place at EQT Park in Washington, Pa.
