Pioneers Visit Gannon for Mid-Week Doubleheader

ERIE, Pa. -- Point Park softball will take on Gannon on Wednesday for a non-conference doubleheader. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 3 p.m. 

 

The Pioneers (7-20, 2-10 MEC) enter looking to snap a losing skid which dates back to Mar. 26. Point Park was swept in doubleheaders against West Virginia Wesleyan and Davis & Elkins last weekend. Cam Mann led the Pioneers with seven hits and six RBIs over the weekend, including a three-hit, four-RBI performance in game two against D&E. 

 

Gannon (11-13, 6-6 PSAC) beat California (PA) in its last game 4-2. The Golden Knights snapped a three-game losing streak with the win and posted a -11 run differential over the stretch. 

 

STORYLINES

  • Gianna Welsh leads the team in slugging (.538), OB% (.449), OPS (.987) and walks (10). Welsh is tied with Cam Mann and Emma Henry for the second-most home runs on the team with one.

  • Mia Arndt leads the team with three home runs and 22 stolen bases. Arndt leads the MEC in stolen bases without a caught stealing (minimum 20 attempts).

  • Cam Mann's 19 RBIs lead the Pioneers. Mann totaled six RBIs last weekend. Jana Hess is second on the team with 14 RBIs and is the only Pioneer to boast a perfect fielding percentage (minimum 100 chances). Mann's fielding percentage is .990 over 100 chances, and Mia Arndt boasts a .973 fielding rate across her 75 chances. 

  • Emma Henry is second on the team among qualified batters in OB% at .358. Henry's lone triple is tied for 12th in the MEC. 

  • Freshman Julia Johnson leads Point Park in strikeouts (44), ERA (4.73) and innings pitched (93.1). Johnson ranks 11th in the MEC in strikeouts and sixth in ERA. Johnson is 16th in the conference in wins.

  • Point Park features five players with a minimum of 55 at bats and an average over .250: Emma Henry (.311), Cam Mann (.301), Mia Arndt (.297), Gia LaBrie (.258) and Ava Hubble (.250)
