PITTSBURGH – Point Park scored a season-high 23 goals and recorded the program's first-ever shutout with a 23-0 win over Bethany College on Tuesday afternoon at Highmark Stadium.
Point Park scored its first goal just 37 seconds into the contest and consistently added to its lead throughout the day, scoring six goals in the first and second, four in the third, and seven in the fourth.
Gracie Favela led the Pioneers with six goals in the win, while
Andrea Kinger finished the match with 12 total points (four goals and eight assists). The Pioneers also got three goals from
Kiley Leasure, and two goals and one assist from both
Alayna Zell and
Tessa Hueber.
Bryn Adey also found the back of the net twice.
Alexandra Hrkach recorded three assists.
Presley Masters tallied five groundballs for lead the Pioneers.
In the center circle, Hueber had a big day with six draw controls, while Kinger recorded five draw controls.
Statistically, Point Park had a 43-3 advantage in total shots and a 35-18 edge in groundballs. The Pioneers also won 17 of the 23 draw controls in the game and went 9-of-13 on clears.
Point Park earns a forfeit win over West Virginia Wesleyan on Thursday, as the Bobcat program has discontinued competition for this season due to roster size and player availability.
As a result of Thursday's match cancellation, Point Park returns to action on Saturday against Davis & Elkins at Highmark Stadium. The opening draw control is slated for 2 p.m.
