Point Park Adds 6 to Women's Cross Country and Track & Field CSC Academic All-District Team

PITTSBURGH -- Point Park women's cross country and track & field saw six competitors named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, the CSC announced Tuesday. Anna Babinyecz, Cassondra O'Connor, Emma Roemer, Jana Schmid, Lina Single and Zabine von Westernhagen all made the team.

 

Babinyecz was named All-MEC Second Team in the 800m at the MEC Outdoor Championships and All-MEC Honorable Mention in the distance medley relay at the MEC Indoor Championships. Her aforementioned 800m finish was good for the fifth-best time in program history (2:16.58). She helped set a program record in the 4x800m at Charlotte (9:19.41) and she holds the fourth-best 1,500m time in program history (4:43.26) which she achieved at Bucknell. 

 

In the classroom, Babinyecz boasts a 3.86 GPA as a Business Management major.

 

Cassondra O'Connor, who was named to the 2025 CSC Academic All-District Team, earned the 2025 MEC Cross Country Championship and was named MEC XC Runner of the Year. O'Connor also picked up All-MEC Second Team honors in the indoor 5,000m and an All-MEC Honorable Mention in the indoor 3,000m and outdoor 10,000m over the MEC track season. She ranks fifth and fourth in the Atlantic Region in the indoor 3,000m and 5,000m and fifth and sixth in the outdoor 5,000m and 10,000m respectively. She posted a 4.00 GPA as an Aviation Management major

 

Emma Roemer posted a 3.96 GPA as a Psychology major. Roemer was named All-MEC Second Team in the outdoor long jump and indoor 60m hurdles, and she earned an All-MEC Honorable Mention in the indoor 100m hurdles. Roemer set three program records over the course of the season: the indoor 60m hurdles (8.79 seconds), the outdoor 100m hurdles (14.32 seconds) and the outdoor 4x100m (47.78 seconds).

 

Her outdoor 100m hurdles time ranks 10th in the Atlantic Region, and her indoor 60m hurdles time ranks eighth.  

 

Jana Schmid posted an undergraduate GPA of 3.95 and a graduate GPA of 4.00 as a Business major. Schmid finished seventh in the 1,500m at the MEC Outdoor Championships, and she ranks 19th in the Atlantic Region in the event. 

 

Lina Single earned an All-MEC Honorable Mention in the javelin, having taken third place in the event at the MEC Outdoor Championships. Her third-place mark of 38.14 meters set a new program record, and it ranks 19th in the Atlantic Region. Single posted a 3.84 GPA as a Business Management major.

 

Zabine von Westernhagen picked up an All-MEC Honorable Mention in the DMR at the MEC Outdoor Championships. von Westernhagen set the program's fifth-best indoor 5,000m time (19:00.99), the third-best outdoor 10,000m time (38:59.33) and the fifth-best outdoor 3,000m steeplechase time (12:12.14) this season. She finished with a 3.63 grade-point average as an Economics and Finance major.
