CLEVELAND – Point Park University Vice President of Athletics Scott Swain has been appointed to the Division II Athletics Directors Association (D2 ADA) Board of Directors, the association announced this summer.
 
Swain was named VP of Athletics at Point Park in January 2024 and successfully led the institution through the NCAA membership process in just two years, after receiving the waiver for the abbreviated two-year process earlier this summer. The waiver was approved after the university successfully completed the multi-year transition process from NAIA by meeting all NCAA compliance, academic and operational benchmarks a year early.
 
"I appreciate the MEC putting their faith in me to represent the conference on the D2 ADA Board of Directors," Swain commented. "Considering I have worked at MEC institutions since the birth of the conference, I see this appointment as a special honor both personally and professionally. As the college athletic landscape continues to evolve, the D2 ADA will become even more prominent in its role. I am excited for the work to be accomplished with this group of elite professionals."
 
During the two-year NCAA process, Point Park won a Mountain East Conference Championship in baseball in 2025, while finishing league runner-up in seven additional sports over the two years.
 
Point Park also continued its success in the classroom, with Point Park student-athletes recording a 3.42 grade-point average in the fall, and a 3.35 GPA in the spring of the 2025-26 academic year. Two-hundred and fifty-eight student-athletes earned MEC academic honors in 2025-26.
 
"Scott's appointment to the D2 ADA Board of Directors is a well-earned recognition of his leadership on campus, within the MEC, and in NCAA Division II circles," said MEC Commissioner Reid Amos. "He has been a steady, respected voice among our athletics directors since the founding of the Mountain East, and his experience on the NCAA Division II Management Council, along with his leadership in successfully navigating the NCAA membership process, provides a valuable perspective that will benefit the D2 ADA Board. We are pleased to have him represent the Mountain East on the D2 ADA Board."

Prior to arriving in Pittsburgh, Swain served as Vice President of Athletics, Recreation & Campus Facilities for 12 years at Notre Dame College in Ohio.
 
After leading the Falcons through the NCAA Division II membership process during his tenure in South Euclid, Notre Dame won two national championships in men's wrestling and one each in men's and women's rugby. The Falcons also won five-consecutive MEC Football Championships and advanced to the national semifinals in the sport in 2018. The Notre Dame men's and women's soccer teams also combined for 10 NCAA Tournament appearances during Swain's tenure.
 
Under Swain's leadership, NDC won 13 MEC Tournament Championships and 11 Regular Season Championships, while 108 student-athletes earned All-American status and 47 were named Academic All-America.
 
Prior to Notre Dame College, Swain served in the athletics administration at the University of Tennessee for six years.
 
Swain is one of three new members of the D2 ADA Board of Directors, joining Jim Sarra of St. Edwards University and Cade Smith of the University of Alabama Huntsville. Converse University's Jenn Bell will serve as ADA President in 2026-27.
