PITTSBURGH -- Point Park women's soccer looks to continue its winning streak on Sunday when it takes on Davis & Elkins at F.N.B. Stadium. Opening kick is scheduled for 11 a.m.

LAST TIME OUT

The Pioneers (2-2-0, 2-0-0 MEC) won their second-straight MEC game on Wednesday with a 2-0 win over West Liberty. Charisma Arteaga and Becca Simpkins both scored their first goals as Pioneers in the win, with Arteaga making her PPU debut.

Point Park outshot West Liberty 14-3, including an 8-2 edge in shots on goal. Goalkeeper Nicole Kuchinski stopped both of the shots on goal she faced, recording her second-consecutive shutout. 

WELCOME TO MOE'S!

Rebecca Pihlgren was named the Moe's Southwest Grill Pioneer Women's Athlete of the Month on Thursday. Pihlgren was named MEC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week on Monday after her heroics in the match against Wheeling. Monday's award marks the second time Pihlgren, the reigning MEC Freshman of the Year and 2025 First Team All-MEC nod, has been named MEC Offensive Player of the Week, as she received the honor last year on Oct. 20.

Pihlgren is now tied for the MEC lead in goals and is tied for second in points (4), and shots on goal (six). 

SCOUTING THE SENATORS

Davis & Elkins (1-2-1, 0-2-0 MEC) enters as a loser of two straight matches, falling to Frostburg State and Fairmont State in MEC play. The Senators have not won a game since their opening match in which they took down Seton Hill 1-0.

D&E has scored in all four of its matches with four different goalscorers. Meghan Andersen, Anne-Sofie Kaiser, Vivian Kerr and Rafaela Leao have all dented the twine for the Senators, with Sophia Brown tallying an MEC-leading two assists on the young season.

Brown and Jemma Creed lead the team with four shots apiece, and all of Brown's attempts have been on net. 

Davis & Elkins has deployed two goalies this season, with Luisa Camara playing their first two games and 83 minutes of the third match. Camara has posted a goals-against average of 1.03 and a save percentage of .842, which rank fifth and fourth in the MEC respectively.. Gabriela Acevedo, who came in for Camara in relief against Frostburg State and played the match against Fairmont State, has allowed 1.85 goals per game on a .714 save percentage.

STURDY AT THE BACK

Point Park posts the third-best team goals-against average in the MEC, only allowing 0.33 goals per match. Goalkeeper Nicole Kuchinski sits in second place in the league in both GAA at 0.50 and save percentage at .909 (minimum three games played). 

Kuchinski's shutout of West Liberty gave her a share of the MEC lead with two shutouts. She is second in the conference with .667 shutouts per game. 

Her lone goal allowed came at No. 22 Ashland in her first start of the season.

THE SERIES

Point Park is 2-1 against Davis & Elkins in the series which dates back to 2012. The Pioneers have won the last two meetings, both of which came in MEC play. Point Park picked up a 4-3 win in 2025 with Chloe Hollott-Lo, Rebecca Pihlgren, Maria Fusillo and Paula Sole all scoring. Sole tallied an assist on Pihlgren's goal.

Sole provided Point Park with the winning goal in the 2024 matchup with her 79th-minute strike. 

PRESEASON POLL

Point Park was picked to place fourth in the Mountain East Conference North Division in the MEC Women's Soccer Preseason Poll. The Pioneers returned 19 players from the 2025 season, in which they qualified for the MEC Tournament, including the aforementioned Rebecca Pihlgren who was named 2025 MEC Freshman of the Year and First Team All-MEC.
