FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Point Park's Nicole Kuchinski was named MEC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, presented by The Health Plan, the conference announced Monday.

Kuchinski, a senior from Harrisburg, Pa., tallied 11 saves across her two games last week and picked up her fourth shutout of the season on Sunday against Frostburg State. She has allowed only two goals across her six games this season, both coming on the road against ranked opponents (then-No. 22 Ashland and No. 23 Fairmont State). 

Kuchinski leads the MEC in save percentage (.929) and shutouts (four) and is second in goals-against average (0.33). Her 4.33 saves per game are good for seventh place in the league. 

Kuchinski is the second Pioneer to receive an MEC weekly honor, as Rebecca Pihlgren was named MEC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 7. 

The Pioneers will return to action on Wednesday when they travel to face Concord. Opening kick is scheduled for noon. Point Park will be back in the Steel City on Sunday when they host Glenville State at Duquesne University's Rooney Field. Opening kick in the matinee is at noon.
