FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Point Park's Nicole Kuchinski was named MEC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, presented by The Health Plan, on Monday, the conference announced. Kuchinski has now won the award in back-to-back weeks.
Â
Kuchinski, a senior from Harrisburg, Pa., posted 13 saves and two shutouts across Point Park's two matches last week, including an 11-save masterpiece at Concord. The Pioneer goalkeeper has allowed only two goals in her eight starts all season, both of which came on the road at ranked opponents.
Â
Kuchinski became the first Pioneer to win MEC Player of the Week in consecutive weeks since the Pioneers joined the Mountain East Conference in 2024. She leads the MEC in goals-against average (0.25), save percentage (.951) and shutouts (six). Her 4.88 saves per game rank fifth in the conference.
Â
In addition to Kuchinski winning the award twice, forward Rebecca Pihlgren was named MEC Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 7. Point Park will return to action on Wednesday to host West Virginia State at 6 p.m. at F.N.B. Stadium.
