BELLE VERNON, Pa. -- Point Park men's and women's golf began the 2026-27 season on Thursday in the Vulcan Classic at Cedarbrook Golf Course. Dharit Iemkanitchat finished -2 through a round and a half, tying for seventh place.

Iemkanitchat, a junior transfer from Eastern Arizona, shot -2 in the first round, tying for fifth over the round, highlighted by four birdies. A native of Nonthaburi, Thailand, he was even through the first 10 holes of the second round before the meet was paused for the day due to lightning.Â

The men's team, which was composed of Iemkanitchat, Joshua Topper, Elie Ben Natan, Teagan Rucks and Jack Dickinson, ranked ninth after the first day, shooting a combined +25.

Topper finished the first round at a +4, and he was even through the second round with two birdies. Ben Natan shot +7 in the first and was four strokes over par by the time the second round was called. Rucks was +9 through the first and was three over par in the second, and Dickinson shot +11 over the first round and was +4 in the second.

Iemkanitchat, Rucks and Dickinson all made their Pioneer debuts on Thursday, along with Sophia Barkoot of the women's team.

The women's team was made up of Barkoot and returner Gabi Wait. The women ended the day in a tie for 16th place with Wait shooting +32 and Barkoot sitting at +56.

The Pioneers will conclude the Vulcan Classic on Friday with the remainder of the second round followed by the third course.
